Solarh2e, a new innovator focused on decarbonising heavy haulage for the mining and resources sector, is proud to announce the appointment of Sean Rooney to our Board of Directors. Sean brings a wealth of experience in governance, regulatory reform, and strategy, further enhancing the credentials and capabilities of Solarh2e.
With a Board now comprising three directors – Sean Rooney, Richard Zee, and Shaun Wilson – the leadership team at Solarh2e is well positioned to drive innovative zero-emission solutions and accelerate the decarbonisation of transport from mine to port.
A geologist with over 30 years of high level government regulatory experience in the resources sector, Sean has worked across multiple areas with the Victorian Government. He has been responsible for executive management of staff, business and strategy planning, policy advice, marketing and facilitation of Victoria’s major resource projects. Having worked in trade and business development roles, as well as fostering intergovernmental relationships and those with major corporations, Sean is a strong advocate for innovation in the mining sector.
“Mining is Australia’s number one industry sector and plays a critical role in the nation’s decarbonisation ambitions,” says Sean. “Solarh2e’s concept of decarbonising transport from the pit to the port is not just innovative but essential for the future growth of transport logistics for Australia’s exports.”
As the mining industry works towards achieving its decarbonisation targets for 2030 and the broader net-zero goals set for 2050, Solarh2e is committed to playing a leading role in this transformation.
“All major companies and governments have committed to net zero targets,” says Sean. “Solarh2e occupies a strategic niche to enable companies to reach their goals. Now is the time for industry to make firm commitments in relation to its transport logistics – an area that goes beyond electrifying mining operations.”
Solarh2e uniquely operates in areas where train transport is not applicable, filling a critical gap in the logistics landscape.
“The opportunities for Solarh2e are immense. The mining sector is paving the way by establishing infrastructure that other industries can adapt to.”
As an enthusiastic advocate, Sean says, “I believe Solarh2e can be a catalyst to revolutionise zero-emissions transport infrastructure. While our focus begins with road transport, we can explore transformative possibilities.”
Sean is a graduate and member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. He is a Director of Resource Unicorns Capital, and Director and Company Secretary of Clifroy Ltd – Bendigo Community Bank, Clifton Hill.
